Clear answers about what metadata removal can do.
What metadata can I remove?
Supported EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, JPEG comments and application segments, PNG text and generation parameters, WebP EXIF/XMP and supported content credential containers. PDFs support document properties and XMP; Office files support core, custom and application properties.
Are my files uploaded?
No. File processing runs inside your browser. Your selected files and their metadata are never sent to our server. The website server receives ordinary page requests, but not your file contents.
Does removing metadata affect image quality?
JPEG, PNG and WebP cleaning preserves the encoded image data. It removes supported metadata containers without recompressing the image, and retains ICC colour profiles. Removing EXIF orientation may change how a viewer rotates a photo. PDFs and Office documents are rewritten in their original formats.
Can it remove AI watermarks or make an image undetectable?
It removes supported stored AI prompts, generation settings and content credentials. It does not remove visible watermarks, pixel-level signals such as SynthID, or records held by a platform, and it cannot guarantee that an image will not be identified as AI-generated.
Can I change the creation date of a file?
You can change embedded JPEG photo dates and PDF or Office creation and modification dates. Downloaded file creation and modification timestamps are controlled by your operating system. Use a local filesystem utility if you need to change those timestamps.
Does cleaning remove every piece of sensitive information?
No. Visible content, filenames, comments, tracked changes, document attachments, hidden sheets, embedded media metadata and pixel-level signals may remain. The metadata report covers supported fields, so review sensitive files carefully before sharing.
